Contemporary Classic

With a baby’s arrival imminent, this client was keen to begin family life in a much loved home yet one that had long been overdue for renovation and upgrade. Located within a late-Victorian terrace the deep footprint meant that the house had generous floor areas and rooms but suffered from a lack of natural light dispersal in certain living areas.

Through a successful planning application we were able to extend the rear of the house to create a new kitchen / dining area with a frameless slot skylight and generously proportioned glazed windows. 

Sunlight now reaches the new kitchen and living spaces spreading light throughout the ground floor areas.

The bespoke joinery and contemporary-designed furniture share a classic yet retro look and happily converse with their original Victorian counterparts and reflect how contemporary touches can create a warm, light ambience rather than the cold, clinical aesthetic that often characterises residential conversions nowadays.
